Unable to Install theme

I have tried uploading theme via WordPress upload but its times out at 90% then times out. I also try to upload it via ftp but when i try to live view the theme, I get a blank white screen (See attachment). I also (just to troubleshoot) tried to activate it on a secondary site that im builidng and it completely killed the site. Pretty much every time I go to the site now i get the following error:

dj-dannyb.com is currently unable to handle this request.

HTTP ERROR 500

First please check that you are using version php 5.5 >
